About Legacy of Folktales
About Legacy of Folktales
Some stories were never meant to be forgotten.
Legacy of Folktales began as a question: How do folktales change through generations?
That question became a YouTube channel — one dedicated to southern myth, generational memory, African American folktales, and the films and histories that shape America's past. From Disney's Haunted Mansion to modern horror, from family stories passed down in kitchens to the cultural excavations hiding in plain sight, the channel became a home for the research that doesn't always make the final cut — but whose exploration informs everything that does.
The store is an extension of that work.
The Story
What started as a channel became a community, and what became a community needed a place to exist beyond the screen.
Legacy of Folktales merchandise aims to be a conversation starter. Even a declaration. Each piece is rooted in the same folklore research, cultural history, and storytelling craft that drives the channel. When you wear it or gift it, you're carrying a piece of a larger conversation about memory, myth, and the stories worth preserving.
